Michael A. West, Jr.

Michael A. West Jr. is a business development executive in Ameren’s Corporation Economic Development Department.

As a business development executive, Michael is responsible for the strategic marketing efforts as well as business/community development activities throughout the St. Louis Metropolitan area, including the City of St. Louis, St. Louis and St. Charles Counties. He works in partnership with local, regional and state partners to attract, expand, and create new/existing industry and business growth opportunities throughout the Ameren service territory.

Michael joined the Ameren team in July of 2001. Prior to Ameren, he worked as Assistant Director of Communications for the Mayor’s Office in the City of St. Louis. He also worked for DIMAC Direct where he did marketing on a national level, working with AT&T’s World Headquarters in New Jersey for five years.

Michael also serves as Vice Chairman of the 11-member Airport Area Redevelopment Intergovernmental Commission as an appointee of the Governor of Missouri. The commission is responsible for and will oversee the redevelopment of approximately 600 acres east of Lambert-St. Louis International Airport.

Michael attended Iowa State University and received his Bachelor of Science from Southeast Missouri State University, with an emphasis in marketing. He is currently in graduate school pursuing his MBA with an emphasis in International Business. In addition to his duties at Ameren, he shares his time with a number of other civic duties. Michael is a Director and Vice Chairman of the Downtown St. Louis Partnership CID, serves on the board of Trustees for Children’s Home Society of Missouri, board member for ARCHS (Area Resources for Community and Human Services), board member for Downtown’s Children Center and participates in many other activities. He is also a member of various regional and statewide economic development committees and organizations. He enjoys history, politics, music, sports and reading.
