Members of the World Bird Sanctuary and staff of AmerenUE’s Labadie Plant in Franklin County recently rescued a great horned owl who had found its way into the power plant. The owl, which had apparently been trapped in the plant for several days in a remote area of the plant, was found sitting near a pool of water. The water probably helped him to stay hydrated as there is no other food source (small animals) in the plant. “Little Rusty,” as he was named, will be nursed back to health at the World Bird Sanctuary and then released to the Labadie Plant area.
